Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on accepting and approving a report on the Regional Animal Shelter Expansion Project; Vaughn Change Order #18 in the amount of $29,710.00 to approve funding from within the existing contract for underground utility conflict resolution, plumbing, site drainage, furnishings & fencing which was executed by Dale Butler, Williamson County Facilities Director, pursuant to the previous grant of authority under Section 262.031 of the Local Government Code.  This change order is being funded by the Owner’s Contingencies.

Background

The utility conflicts were due to new and existing underground utilities which had conflicting elevations which City of Georgetown required a concrete cap for protection of existing fire-line.  The plumbing improvements are due to the need to correct the drain and outflow of the existing end kennels omitted in the original design.  The site drainage corrections extended the storm drainage to catch and redirect rainwater that was flowing across dog exercise yards and to correct resulting issues caused.  The furnishing additions were for Cat Area play structures that were not procured.  The fencing modifications were to correct variations in the exterior kennel transfer openings to a uniform size.  On August 15, 2017, the Williamson County Commissioners Court granted Dale Butler, Williamson County Facilities Director, with general authority to approve change orders for the Agreement for Construction Services with Vaughn Construction in relation to the Regional Animal Shelter Expansion Project for any increase in costs up to a total maximum amount of $30,000 in accordance with Section 262.031 of the Local Government Code – Changes in Plans and Specifications.  This report is being provided for purposes of notifying the court of such change order and to place it in the minutes of the Commissioners Court.
