Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action regarding Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $5,811.00 for the San Gabriel Ranch Road (A Greater Austin Development), a Road Bond project in Commissioner Pct. 2. P: 439; Funding Source: Road & Bridge.

This Change Order replaces lime treated subgrade with an additional 6" of flexible base and adds a new item to compensate the Contractor for the cost to fabricate and deliver slot drain cover plates that were subsequently deleted from the project. The plan called for 6" of lime treatment to stabilize the subgrade. Due to the low Plasticity Index (PI) of the embankment material used by the Contractor, the lime treatment was not required. The Contractor propose to substitute lime treatment with an additional 6" of flexible base. This proposal was accepted by the Engineer and documented in the response to RFI #9. This Change Order adds a new item for the additional 6" of flexible base and deletes the two lime related items. The plans also calls for cover plates for the four drain slots in the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge. During construction, it was noted that quantities for these cover plates did not make it into the original contract. The Engineer performed a drainage study and concluded that these drain slots were not necessary and cover plates could be eliminated from the plans. The cover plates had already been fabricated at time of this decision and will be delivered to the County's maintenance yard. This Change Order is to add a new item to compensate the Contractor for the cost to fabricate and deliver the slot drain cover plates.
