Discuss, consider, and take any appropriate action regarding the approval of the early voting polling locations and voting hours for the 2020 Democratic Party Primary Runoff Election to be held July 14, 2020.

Pursuant to a proclamation issued Friday, March 20, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Greg Abbott suspended certain provisions in the Texas Election Code to move the primary runoff date to July 20, 2020 from May 26, 2020. On May 11, 2020 Governor Abbott issued a proclamation expanding early voting for the July 14, 2020 election to begin on June 29, 2020. The Elections Department will be taking substantial measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in polling locations. All poll workers will be provided with individual hand sanitizing units. Hand sanitizer will also be provided for voter use. Voting touchscreens will be regularly cleaned with alcohol and each check-in station and ballot marking device will have a CleanPen unit to be used for sanitizing writing instruments and stylii. Protective shields will be provided at each check-in station and poll workers are being asked to wear cloth face coverings. Each location will have a poll worker assigned to monitor and encourage social distancing. Each location will have social distance markers on the floor where voting is to occur. Signage will be posted outside each polling location alerting voters to the option of voting curbside. Prior to the start of voting, all poll workers will receive training on safety and sanitizing protocol in the polling place and will be instructed to thoroughly sanitize the equipment in the polling location before, during and after voting occurs each day.
