Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on a proposal by Technology Services to allow for centralized ordering of technology items.

This proposal is asking that Technology Services be allowed to coordinate with departments and issue single orders for computers, software, etc. to simplify the ordering process, reduce overhead, and leverage more competitive pricing through bulk ordering. Departments would continue to budget for items, and work through the same processes to acquire technology items, but as much as possible of the ordering will be done early in the year by Technology Services.

This has been discussed in detail with Audit, Purchasing and Budget. And if approved, Technology Services will work out the final details for inclusion into the appropriate formal policies.
