Background
This Change Order adds the latest TxDOT Guardrail End Treatment (MSKT) standard in the Contract, adds items for extending a storm sewer pipe, revises the slope for safety end treatments (SET) from 4:1 to 3:1 (RFI 28) and adds a pipe underdrain to address groundwater encountered during construction near the PEC Driveway (RFI 29).
The new TxDOT standard for the Guardrail End Treatment was updated and issued after the project was designed and will be implemented during construction.
The response to RFI 28 revised the profile grade line (PGL) of the proposed roadway from the south tie-in to the existing CR 266. Due to the change in the PGL, side slopes changed which required changes to Structure "I". Field changes include changes for two (2) SET's from 4:1 to 3:1 and an extension to the length of the storm sewer pipe.
The response to RFI 29 required the installation of an underdrain to allow runoff for groundwater encountered during construction and to stabilize the roadway foundation. The work being addressed in this Change Order applies to the Seward Junction Southeast portion of the project.
