Discuss, consider and take appropriate action to authorize the Williamson County Sheriff's Office to apply for an extension on the existing Criminal Justice Division Rifle-Resistant Body Armor Grant Program.

On October 27, 2020, in agenda item #14, Commissioners Court approved the Sheriff's Office to accept a grant through the Criminal Justice Division Rifle-Resistant Body Armor Grant Program to purchase body armor for our SWAT and K-9 units. The body armor has been ordered, but delivery is delayed and we are not expected to receive it until after the current project end date of August 31, 2021. The Sheriff's Office is seeking approval to apply for an extension from the funder with the new project end date being November 30, 2021.

Staff recommends the following action: Approve the Sheriff's Office to apply for a grant extension and approve appropriate County department personnel to complete documentation relevant to the implementation of the grant.
