Agenda Item
Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on authorizing the Purchasing Agent to advertise and receive sealed proposals for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Shift Schedule Optimization Process Study under RFP #RF22RFP38.
Background
Williamson County EMS seeks to have an evaluation to include paramedics and management in a joint project to determine if the 24-hour shift and 24/48-hour schedule remain the best option. It is recognized that an optimal schedule can improve recruiting and retention of personnel, operational productivity, and the overall health and safety of personnel. The value of a properly determined shift schedule and supporting policies can have an enormous return-on-investment and overall operating benefits. Williamson County EMS wishes to have an employee involved approach and proven process that will determine the most suitable schedule structure for meeting employee and departmental needs. The optimal shift schedule must be selected through a logical, systemic search for the scheduling solution that meets the above criteria for the greatest portion of the workforce. Mike Knipstein is the point of contact and the funding source: 0540-0100-004100 approved for FY22.
