Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action regarding Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $233,364.00 for Project 22IFB39 CR 111 Westinghouse Rd. (Capital Excavation) P: 292 Funding Source: Road Bond.

Background

This Change Order compensates the Contractor for additional work related to unsuitable material that was encountered on the project while preparing earthwork for CR 110 between stations 323+50 to 355+00. The material was excavated, hauled off-site, and replaced with material that meets the required specifications. The additional excavation and embankment work will be paid for with existing Contract unit prices. This Change Order accounts for the overrun of these items on the CR 110 portion. Due to the existing utilities, there is limited access on the project to find acceptable material for use. It was discussed and agreed to import material to replace the unsuitable material. The agreed cost to the County is 50% of the total cost to purchase and haul in the material. A Force Account line item has been created to cover the additional cost of the imported material used at the above location, and also to cover any other unsuitable areas that may be encountered during construction.  

The following is a description of new item added to the Contract by this Change Order:

This Change Order results in a net increase of $233,364.00 to the Contract amount, for an adjusted Contract total of $21,257,696.88. The original Contract amount was $21,024,332.88. As a result of this and all Change Orders to-date, $233,364.00 has been added to the Contract, resulting in a 1.11% net increase in the overall Contract cost. As a result of this Change Order, (0) days will be added to the contract.
