Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on ratifying the Purchase Order #181411 to 5-F Mechanical, Inc for emergency replacement of HVAC system at the Williamson County Jail IT Server Room located at 508 Rock Street, Georgetown, TX 78627 in the amount of $29,524.07, exempting this purchase from competitive bidding requirements per Texas Local Government Code 262.024. (a)(2) [An item necessary to preserve and protect the public health or safety of the residents of the county].
Background
Facilities Management submitted a requisition #129664 for the replacement of an existing 3ton mini split air handler with a new 6ton, 3 head Mitsubishi mini split system at the Jail. The Purchasing Department was informed that the Jail IT Server Room was needing a new unit due to temporary, portable units being used to stabilize the air temperate of the room. The portable units required a door to be propped open which was preventing proper security measures to be followed, so the department requested we escalate the approval for requisition to prevent unauthorized access by anyone not a part of the Information Technology Services Department.
