Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action authorizing the County Judge to submit a request to the federal domain registrar seeking the reservation and a policy exception for a .gov domain name for Williamson County.

In order to obtain a .gov domain name for the County we need to request the reservation from the federal registrar. Staff is requesting wilcotx.gov, which would require a request for policy exception from the standard of williamsoncountytx.gov. As we are the only government agency in Texas, and indeed the nation, to use “Wilco” as an accepted abbreviation, we are asking for this variance that will make it easier for citizens to access our information via the internet. This is requested on behalf of Technology Services and Public Affairs.
