Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on reclassifying nine Emergency Medical Services Paramedic positions to Emergency Medical Technical Basic positions and adding an Advanced - EMT stipend. 

Over the past year Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has partnered with Human Resources (HR) to review market data and industry trends. Both HR and EMS support changing the overall staffing strategy for EMS and reclassifying nine vacant positions from Paramedics - B.22 to Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT - B) - B.18.  Positions reclassified would be 0842, 0858, 0876, 0886, 2045, 2046, 2047, 2048, and 2049. If approved, this would be effective the pay period starting 1/20/2023. This would enable us to tap into a larger applicant pool to fill much needed positions. We would also recommend adding an Advanced - EMT stipend of $300 per month available for EMT - B incumbents when they become credentialed. No additional funding would be needed at this time.
