Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on a policy exception to allow for the salary of the new hire in the Financial Director position of the County Auditor's Office to exceed 15% above the minimum.
Background
The Financial Director position budgeted salary is $125,104.98. Bringing in a candidate at 15% above the minimum of the grade places the salary at less than the Assistant Financial Director. The request is to bring in a qualified Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of accounting experience at an annual salary of $107,999.84. This would be an additional 10% above the 15% and still approximately $17,000 less than the current budget for the position. This creates approximately $8900 gap between the Director and the Assistant Director.
