Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on updating the Williamson County Purchasing Policy as it pertains to Furniture Purchasing.
Background
In providing parameters for a preferred vendor for furniture purchases we hope to alleviate some challenges we’ve experienced over the years:
- Business/office furniture is designed to last or stand up to 8/12/24 hour shifts; furniture purchased through other vendors sometimes does not
- The Facilities team often receives requests to repair furniture that has broken/fallen apart
- Substandard/unrepairable furniture ends up in our warehouse and unused after a short period of time
- In not providing a preferred vendor, we sometimes end up with furniture purchases that are not office suitable and are based on individual taste
- In not providing uniformity, we have personnel leave/retire/etc. and new personnel ask for furniture replacements that are more “businesslike”
