Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD) and Williamson County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) required to collaborate and submit an application for CDC Overdose Data to Action - Limiting Overdose through Collaborative Actions in Localities grant.

Background

Williamson County EMS, Bluebonnet Trails and the health district (WCCHD) would like to partner on the CDC Overdose Data to Action - Limiting Overdose through Collaborative Actions in Localities (OD2A:  LOCAL) grant.  This 5-year grant does not require a match and would provide an opportunity for the Community Health Paramedicine team (CHIP) to add two paramedics to the CHIP team to further support their mission.  The grant funding would allow CHIP to better address the increasing problem of overdoses due to opioids, but would also allow them to address the issues created by other drugs and stimulants as well.  The grant would provide outreach for public education, including materials to help educate agencies and/or groups that would like assistance with the current overdose problems that are impacting our communities.  The grant would provide Narcan for overdoses, reducing the number of drug overdoses in our county, and help the patient on the journey to recovery to a sober, productive life.  The CHIP team has the structure in place to meet the requirements of this grant, and it will further support the mission of CHIP.  Hal Hawes has reviewed the MOU and a signed copy of the agreement is attached.
