Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on the revision of current policy (see attached Budget Policy document; page 9) to add/include handguns (along with existing shotguns and rifles) to be issued (and paid for out of the general fund) to sworn County Law Enforcement personnel, including an update to Appendix A (see attached Budget Policy document; page 12) uniform equipment lists effective FY 25.

According to the Williamson County Budget Policy, VIII Uniform Policies, 9: "Shotguns/Rifles will be funded for each deputy if funding is available. Personal glocks/handguns as well as any associated add-ons to personal handguns are to be funded/provided by deputy."  We would like to include handguns along with existing rifles and shotguns as part of the Deputy equipment list.  In speaking with the Budget Office, they have asked that we put this item on as a policy change request since current policy restricts the funding of personal handguns at this time.
