Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on a request from the Office of Emergency Management to apply for FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program to fund warning/tornado sirens for the cities of Weir and Granger.

Background

The Office of Emergency Management is requesting approval to apply to the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program on behalf of the cities of Weir and Granger to purchase warning/tornado sirens. This will increase our public alerting capability and make the communities safer. This will be at no cost to the county. 75% will be covered by FEMA and 25% by each city. The MOU's labeled as drafts are currently under legal review and do not need to be signed today. If approved to apply for this grant, we will re-submit the MOUs for court approval after legal review and being signed by the cities first.
