Discuss, consider and take any appropriate action to allow the Sheriff's Office to submit an application for a grant through the Firehouse Subs Foundation for Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

The Sheriff's Office is seeking approval to apply for a grant through the Firehouse Subs Foundation. This grant will provide (8) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) sets worth $16,496.00 that will be kept in Patrol vehicles. The grant requires no resolution or match.

The AED set will contain all needed accessories, including a protective carrying case and both adult and pediatric defibrillator pads. Maintenance costs associated with AED's are minimal and predominately for the replacement of defibrillator pads and the unit's battery. All maintenance costs will be covered through funds already allocated for equipment repairs and supplies.  

Staff recommends the following action: Approve the Sheriff's Office to apply for AED units through the Firehouse Subs Foundation and authorize appropriate County department personnel to complete documentation relevant to the implementation of the grant.
