Agenda Item
Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action regarding agreement with Charter Communications Operating, LLC d/b/a Spectrum for fiber internet services at 321 Ed Schmidt Blvd, Suite 200 (Commissioner Pct 4 office).
Background
This agreement is to upgrade the internet service at the Commissioner Precinct 4 office in Hutto from cable modem to fiber-optic internet. The reason for this change is that the previous Hutto Annex had a 36-month fiber contract that carried a large termination fee. Moving this service increases the service cost at the new office, but avoids the termination fee. Charter would not/will not agree to waive early termination fees on any fiber agreement, but has agreed to add a non-appropriation clause. Legal has approved moving forward with this clause. This service cost is similar to the Hutto annex cost and is on state cooperative purchasing contract.
