Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on submitting grant applications to the Texas Veterans Commission for grant funding available through the Funds for Veterans Assistance.

During the 79th Legislative Session, SB 1679 was enacted and the Fund for Veterans Assistance (FVA) was created.  There are several funding opportunities that are available through the FVA, including the following categories of grants:  General Assistance, Housing 4 Heroes, Veterans Mental Health, Veteran Treatment Courts, and Veterans County Services Officer grants.  The Williamson County Veterans Treatment Court (WCVTC) has applied and received $30K through the Veteran Treatment Courts funding stream, which is used to provide individual and couple counseling for participants in the WCVTC program.  Permission is requested to submit an application to continue this funding.  In addition, permission is requested to submit another grant application through the Veterans County Services Officers grant funding stream.  This application will assist the Veterans Service Office with identified needs, that will not involve personnel or other areas that could have a fiscal impact on the County budget. A grant application form will be submitted to the Budget Office prior to grant submittal.
