Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action regarding Change Order No. 6 in the amount of $-20,693.24 for San Gabriel Ranch Road (A Greater Austin Development), a Road & Bridge project in Commissioner Pct. 2.

Background

This Change Order provides the final balancing for the overrun/underrun of Contract quantities for work on the project paid for by the County as a result of addressing field conditions not accounted for in the original plans. This project experienced greater than normal precipitation before and during construction which created a steady flow of water into the work area. It took longer than anticipated to drain the lake to the required level before critical activities could begin, such as channel excavation and bridge construction. The project also encountered underground water during channel excavation and the Engineer had to adjust the channel profile to address this issue. According to the daily records, 25 days were charged during these periods of time and the County agreed to credit those days back to the contract. Despite the time added to the contract, the Contractor exceeded the allowable number of working days on the contract which resulted in being charged 34 days of liquidated damages.
