Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on authorizing the Purchasing Agent to draft a Request for Proposal (RFP) for consulting services for a Countywide Broadband Infrastructure Analysis and Report. RFP shall then be brought to the Court for review, edit and approval.
Background
Williamson County is in a unique position to assist regional stakeholders in applying for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for improvements to broadband infrastructures. A comprehensive broadband study would provide the data for both private and public entities to be viewed as high priority in their funding requests to expand broadband access to targeted areas in state and federal grant applications. Estimated cost of consulting services is $250,000. Requested funding source 2020 CARES Act funding.
