Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on an order declaring an emergency and a grave necessity due to unforeseeable circumstances and approve a budget amendment to acknowledge additional expenditures for the Elections Discretionary Fund.

The Elections Department is in need of a budget amendment to cover the expenses caused by two factors that were unknown at the time the FY22 budget was created. These two factors being the 39% cost share the County needed to assume of the May 7, 2022 election due to the late inclusion of two State Constitutional Amendments on the May 7, 2022 ballot. The second factor was the poll worker pay increase that was approved by Commissioner’s Court in March 2022 effective beginning with expenses related to the May 7^th election.
