Discuss, consider and take appropriate action regarding the engagement of attorney Elizabeth Branch to provide legal support to Williamson County District Judges in the performance of their duties as they relate to civil law matters on the District Courts' dockets on an as-needed basis and subject to available budgetary funding; and exempt these services from the competitive bid/proposal requirements of the County Purchasing Act pursuant to the discretionary exemption for personal or professional services, as set forth under Tex. Loc. Gov’t Code § 262.024(a)(4).

In adjudicating complex civil matters, judges often rely on expert legal support.  The services of attorney Elizabeth Branch are being recommended to support Williamson County District Judges in the performance of their duties as they relate to such matters.  Ms. Branch has performed similar consulting services for many years, and is highly qualified to provide the services desired.  Services shall be contracted on an as-needed basis.  Total annual fees are not expected to exceed $20,000 per year or funds allocated. Department Contact is Ronald Morgan, Director of Williamson County District Court Administration.  These services shall be funded out of the District Court Budget (0435), Professional Services line (004100).
