Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on a Resolution Supporting Williamson County’s Application to the Texas Department of Transportation’s 2023 Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside (TA) Call For Projects.

Background

On April 11, 2023, Commissioners Court authorized the Parks Department to apply for the Texas Department of Transportation’s 2023 Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside (TA) grant.  The grant request is for approximately $5,491,000 to fund the planning, design, engineering, construction and construction administration and of an approximate 1.5 mile, 10' shared-use concrete path that will complete the connection of the existing western portion of the Brushy Creek Regional Trail along Hairy Man Road with the eastern portion of the Brushy Creek Regional Trail in Round Rock.  The project scope also includes one creek crossing, as well as a paved lighted parking area with restroom, trailhead and access to the Brushy Creek Regional Trail.  This project will ultimately provide trail connection between Cedar Park and Round Rock, while enhancing connectivity with residential and commercial areas.  Grant match requirement is 20% (approximately $1,100,000) and is anticipated to come from available Park Bond funds (P551).
