Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on approving the purchase of a Kubota SVL75-3HWC Track Loader for the Parks Department from Ewald Kubota, Inc., in the amount of $63,441.94 pursuant to Sourcewell Co-op Contract #031121-KBA.

Background

Approval of this item will provide the ability for the Expo Center employees to clean the narrow asphalt walkways in front of the main arena bleachers and between the arena and the concrete floor in the covered Expo Center area, the Pavilion asphalt walkways and other areas as needed.  The overall frequency of events has increased and events often require quick construction, set-up, clean-up and break-down. The facility has also added large parking areas to the grounds that are utilized for events which require larger equipment to clean up. Staff has identified that a skid steer would allow the department to better facilitate said processes.  The Expo Center has often relied on renting and borrowing a skid steer from an alternate location and street sweepers from the Road and Bridge Department which are rarely available on short notice.  As a result, there is a delay for other departments and County operations and event turn around. The skid steer is more versatile and would allow the Parks Department to perform the same function and additional duties. Budget has reviewed this purchase. Funding source is 01.0100.0510.005003.
