Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action regarding Change Order No. 8 in the amount of $327,321.48 for Project 22IFB139 FM3349 at US 79 (James Construction Group) P: 332 Funding Source: Road Bond.
Background
This Change Order compensates the contractor for the installation of 280 linear feet of 36-inch Ductile Iron (DI) pipe for the City of Hutto water line project. The original plans included the installation of a 36-in PVC pipe with restrained joints. However, the PVC pipe-restrained joint assembly does not fit inside the 48-in steel casing. The substitution of the PVC pipe with DI pipe will allow the installation of the carrier pipe inside the 48-inch bored steel casing under FM 3349 and then transitioning to a 56-inch casing with PVC pipe for the open cut section. This modification was requested by and is 100% reimbursable by the City of Hutto. Please see attached Change Order for additional details.
This Change Order results in a net increase of $327,321.48 to the Contract amount, for an adjusted Contract total of $83,784,333.96. The original Contract amount was $81,941,038.13. As a result of this and all Change Orders to-date, $1,843,295.83 has been added to the Contract, resulting in an 2.25% net increase in the Contract cost. No additional days will be added to or deducted from the Contract as a result of this Change Order.
