Discuss, consider and take appropriate action to convert CCG Deputy Pcn #2010.001105 and 2011.001105 positions from ARPA funded grant positions to permanent positions in the Sheriff's Office general funds to be effective January 1, 2025.

These Deputy positions will be funded until December 31, 2024 when ARPA funding will end. These two positions are stationed at the Williamson County Juvenile Justice Center where they serve as visible and active law enforcement officers on campus. Screening all visitors for weapons/contraband upon entry into the facility and providing additional security in and around the courtroom on all designated court days. The deputies also conduct routine perimeter checks around the entire facility to ensure the facility is secure and free of any contraband and investigates criminal offenses and detains and makes arrests when necessary. These deputies also provide much needed safety and security for employees, the district court judge, county attorneys and defense attorneys. Without these positions, there would not be adequate security coverage during court. As the County continues to grow and with the upcoming expansion of the Juvenile Justice Center, there is an anticipated increase in the number of referrals to Juvenile Services. The continuation of these two positions would limit liability by ensuring highly trained security staff and being more readily available as needed. 

We would like to respectfully request the Commissioners Court to continue funding these two deputy positions in the Sheriff's Office general fund beginning January 1, 2025.
