Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on a policy exception to allow for the salary of the newly-hired Clerk II position with Constable Pct. 1 to exceed 15% above the minimum.
Background
The Clerk II position (PCN 0263) budgeted salary is $58,585.60. Partially utilizing the salary savings will allow the department to make a competitive offer to a highly qualified applicant who has over six years experience working in a similar role and experience using the same software applications as our department, the applicant also has a BA in Criminal Justice. The request is to hire at an annual salary of $53,204.28, this would be 17% above the 15% (from base) and is $5,048.32 less than the current budget for the position.
