Discuss, consider and take appropriate action authorizing the Williamson County Sheriff's Office to accept funding through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program FY2024, Local Solicitation.

On October 8, 2024, agenda item #35, the Court approved the Sheriff's Office to apply for the Edward Byrne Memorial JAG Program for the Community Affairs Unit. Our grant application has been accepted for award and, if we receive approval to accept the grant, the Community Affairs Unit will receive $11,998.00 to purchase supplies and equipment for programs including the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE), Citizens Academy, Public Safety Cadets, and Junior Deputy Academy programs. This grant requires no resolution or match. The required Certifications and Assurances form is attached. Staff recommends the following action: Approve the Sheriff's Office to accept the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, FY2024 Local Solicitation and authorize appropriate County department personnel to complete documentation relevant to the implementation of the grant.
