Agenda Item

Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on granting consent to the Coupland Civic Organization, Inc.’s donation, transfer and conveyance to the City of Coupland of property that includes the Caboose located in the Historic Depot in Coupland, Texas, which was previously renovated through funding from the Williamson County Community Recreational Facility Fund pursuant to a Contract in the Public Interest Between Williamson County, Texas and Coupland Civic Organization, Inc. (Community Recreation Facility Fund) dated effective August 2, 2017.

Background

Williamson County provided $10,000.00 of funding to the Coupland Civic Organization, Inc. from the Williamson County Community Recreational Facility Fund for renovations to the Caboose located in the Historic Depot in Coupland, Texas. The terms of the funding were set out in a Contract in the Public Interest Between Williamson County, Texas and Coupland Civic Organization, Inc. (Community Recreation Facility Fund) dated effective August 2, 2017 (the “Contract”).  The Contract requires the Coupland Civic Organization, Inc. to obtain the County’s consent prior to any type of conveyance, lease or transfer of the Caboose to another party.  In the event such consent is not obtained, the Coupland Civic Organization, Inc. would be required to reimburse Williamson County the $10,000.00 of funding.  The proposed donation, transfer and conveyance of the property containing the Caboose is to the City of Coupland.  The City of Coupland will continue to maintain the Caboose as a feature of the property, and it will remain open to the public.
