Discuss, consider and take appropriate action authorizing the Williamson County Sheriff's Office to apply for funding through the FY2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, Local Solicitation.

Public Background

The Sheriff's Office is seeking approval to apply for $15,073.00 through the Edward Byrne Memorial JAG Program. This grant will provide funding for the Community Affairs Unit's programs and trainings, including Junior Deputy Academy (JDA), Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE), Adult Citizens Academy, Youth and Young Adult Academy, National Night Out, Citizens Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE), Take 10 and Stop the Bleed. This grant requires no resolution or match. The attached Certifications and Assurances form must be signed by the Chief Executive and submitted with the application. The required Application for Federal Assistance (SF-424) and Disclosure of Lobbying Form (SF-LLL) are now completed online; no physical signatures are needed. A copy of both documents is attached for the Courts review.  Staff recommends the following action: Approve the Sheriff's Office to apply for the FY2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program and authorize appropriate County department personnel to complete documentation relevant to the implementation of the grant.
