Approve agreement with CommuniCare Health Centers, Inc., in the amount of $24,798 for the period of September 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022 for the provision of oral health education lessons to Yolo County pre-school and elementary school students.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background
Approval of this agreement will provide school-based oral health education at Yolo County pre-schools and elementary schools. Oral health education will be provided in conjunction with onsite oral health screenings at schools when possible. This education is essential for helping children build healthy behaviors with their oral health care and reducing risk of tooth decay.
The oral health education program supports the County’s current Oral Health Strategic Plan as well as the County’s prop-56 funded oral health work plan for fiscal year (FY) 2021-22.
The County recommends approval of this agreement as CommuniCare is the only entity that currently has an oral education component to their screenings. Approval of this agreement would provide for education and screenings to occur together.
