Reason for Recommended Action/Background
On February 24, 2015, the Yolo County Board of Supervisors awarded the current landfill operations contract (Agreement No. 15-17) to Geerts Construction. Under this Agreement, Geerts Construction provides daily garbage placement, compaction and cover operations based on a fixed per ton rate, and other waste handling and construction and repair work (collectively “Additional Work”) on a time and materials basis. The original term of the agreement went through April 14, 2020 and included two optional 1-year renewals. The County exercised the optional renewals, making the expiration date of the agreement April 14, 2022.
The County has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for the next landfill operations agreement but due to Division of Integrated Waste Management staffing issues, did not release the RFP with sufficient time to secure a new agreement prior to the April 14, 2022 existing contract expiration date. The attached amendment provides a 1-month extension on the exiting agreement to allow sufficient time to secure a new contract. All other terms and conditions of Agreement No. 15-17 remain unchanged.
