Reason for Recommended Action/Background
On December 15, 2020 the Board of Supervisors approved the Limited Site Characterization Work Plan for the Curtis Paint Stripping Pond Project. The project proposed installing four groundwater monitoring wells in the area of the Curtis Pond to collect 20 surface samples (four each quarter during the year) in the vicinity of the crop duster loading area and adjacent drainage ditches.
In January 2021, Kleinfelder began work on the project marking boring locations for utility clearance by Underground Service Alert (USA), clearing them with a private utility locator and drilling the four wells, which were installed in February 2021, at the Curtis Pond area and sampling the pesticide loading area.
Currently, Kleinfelder has submitted their proposal for Site Closure Services, which includes the destruction of four monitoring wells at the Yolo County Airport. The cost for this is $19,190 which was not budgeted in the Yolo County Airport 2021-22 budget. This is the final step to close this project out with the state.
