Reason for Recommended Action/Background
During the past two governance sessions, the Board of Supervisors discussed changes to the Governance Manual (last updated on January 15, 2019) to refine certain sections, update outdated text, and address a handful of new topics. The changes are included in Attachment A and described briefly in a "change log" that appears on the second page. Topics addressed include:
- The characteristics of effective Board governance, including the "governance mindset"
- The roles and responsibilities of the CAO
- Strategic Plan goals
- Board assignments and assignment rotation
- Legislative advocacy, including funding requests
While the document is not in "track changes" format, the current (2019) version of the manual is included as Attachment B to enable a comparison.
