Reason for Recommended Action/Background
This agenda item aims to update Chapter 1 of Title 4 of the Yolo County Code regarding emergency services through the ordinance included as Attachment A. The Board approved the emergency services chapter of the Yolo County Code in March 2007. The current version of the chapter is included as Attachment B. The chapter is now outdated and no longer fully reflects the operations, structure, and goals of County emergency service. The ordinance updates the chapter to reflect the reestablishment of the Disaster Service Council and includes other updates to describe current emergency services staffing and operations. These changes will help to ensure a whole community approach to emergency services, and create a safer more resilient Yolo County.
Collaborations (including Board advisory groups and external partner agencies)
County Counsel approved the ordinance as to form. Additionally, the updated ordinance was shared with various stakeholders, including cities, special districts, and private and public partners. Stakeholders will be offered the opportunity to comment.
