Subject

Approve and authorize the Director of General Services to enter into a contract with Swierstok Enterprise, Inc., dba Pro Builders in the amount of $231,224 for Health and Human Services Bauer Building Project Refresh and further authorize the Director of General Services to approve change order to the contract up to an additional $23,122 should amendments be required by the scope of the project, and issue/record a Notice of Completion. (No general fund impact) (Pistochini/Martinez)

Recommended Action

  1. Approve and authorize the Director of General Services to enter into a contract with Swierstok Enterprise, Inc., dba Pro Builders in the amount of $231,224 for Health and Human Services Bauer Building Project Refresh; and
     
  2. Authorize the Director of General Services to approve change order to the contract up to an additional $23,122 should amendments be required by the scope of the project; and
     
  3. Authorize the Director of General Services to Issue/record a Notice of Completion.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background

The County has a need to renew a portion of the Bauer Building to update worn areas of the building and meet current business needs.  This project will include new flooring, paint, and construction of new storage areas.  

On June 5, 2023, an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for the Bauer Building Project Refresh, located at 137 N. Cottonwood Street, Woodland, was issued by Yolo County General Services Department (GSD) in collaboration with Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA).  One bid was received from Swierstok Enterprise, Inc., dba Pro Builders and after review the bidder was deemed responsive, having submitted a bid of $231,224.  This bid includes cost for all labor, services, transportation, equipment, parts and supplies necessary for the refresh of the Bauer Building.  

The total cost of this project is budgeted in HHSA's budget.  Project is estimated to start by the beginning of July 2023 and conclude by the end of October 2023.

The General Services Department collaborated with the Health and Human Services Agency, Department of Financial Services, County Counsel's Office and County Administrator's Office.
