Significant exposure to litigation: 1 case(s)
Recommended Action
The basis for this closed session item is as follows.
The Office of the County Counsel received an email from the Correctional Officers Association threatening suit against the County to obtain a Court ruling in their favor with respect to correctional officer entitlement to Government Code section 4850 benefits.
While no suit has yet been filed against the County, on these facts, the County Counsel has determined that “existing facts and circumstances” pursuant to Government Code section 54956.9(d)(2) and (e)(5) create significant exposure to litigation and justify a closed session.
