Reason for Recommended Action/Background
On August 29, 2023 the Yolo County Board of Supervisors approved three contracts with temporary employment staffing agencies to allow the Elections branch of ACE to gain assistance in recruiting, onboarding, and holding the liability of short-term elections staff with an outside vendor. This shift in responsibility was necessary due to the changing nature of election operations, and a recommendation made by County Counsel based on previous recruitment and hiring processes. After the completion of the March 5, 2024 election cycle, it was determined that some small adjustments needed to be made to the contracts to fully meet the needs of the Elections office. The amendments seek to make these small adjustments and extend the terms of the contract through June 30, 2025.
The original contracts were for $600,000 each or $1,800,000 in total. The contract amendments do not request additional appropriations as the appropriations approved in the original contracts will cover upcoming obligations. Based on the March 5, 2024 election, it is estimated that the cost of these contracts in FY 24/25 will be about $300,000 for staffing for the November 5, 2024 election.
