Subject

Adopt Authorized Position and Salary Resolution to implement changes in the Human Resources Department; and approve an accelerated merit step increase for a Deputy District Attorney IV in the District Attorney's Office and for an Assistant Supervisor's Deputy in the Board of Supervisors. (No general fund impact) (Pannu)

Recommended Action

  1. Adopt Position and Salary Resolution to implement changes in the Human Resources Department; and 
     
  2. Approve an accelerated merit step increase for a Deputy District Attorney IV in the District Attorney's Office, from Step 2 to Step 3 for outstanding performance, effective April 21, 2024, and for an Assistant Supervisor's Deputy in the Board of Supervisors, from Step 1 to Step 3 for outstanding performance, effective July 28, 2024.

Explanation: Increases the salary by 9.96% to provide an equity adjustment as a result of a salary survey conducted by Human Resources.

Human Resources Manager - Increases the salary by 9.96%, based on a market salary survey and to maintain internal equity among similar classes. 

Accelerated Merit Step Increase - District Attorney's Office
Human Resources recommends the Board approve the request from the District Attorney's Office to grant an accelerated merit step increase to Step 3 for Miranda Dalju, upon her regular merit increase to Step 2 in the class of Deputy District Attorney IV, for outstanding performance, effective April 21, 2024. The Board of Supervisors may adjust the salary of an incumbent to any step within the salary range in order to correct inequities, reward outstanding achievement and performance, or for other reasons acceptable to the Board. Ms. Dalju has been with the District Attorney's Office for almost 10 months and is performing her functions and duties at a remarkable level. This action will result in an additional 5% increase for the incumbent.

Accelerated Merit Step Increase - Board of Supervisors
Human Resources recommends the Board approve the request from the Board of Supervisors to grant an accelerated merit step increase from step 1 to Step 3 for Viviana Dazo, in the class of Assistant Supervisor's Deputy, for outstanding performance, effective July 28, 2024. The Board of Supervisors may adjust the salary of an incumbent to any step within the salary range in order to correct inequities, reward outstanding achievement and performance, or for other reasons acceptable to the Board. Since starting with Supervisor Villegas' office, Ms. Dazo has taken on a significant volume of work and has managed the office workload with a great level of expertise. This action will result in an additional 10% increase for the incumbent.
