Recommended Action
- Adopt resolution granting the District Attorney authority to accept, on behalf of Yolo County, $471,172 in grant funding awarded by the California Department of Insurance. Yolo County District Attorney's office was awarded $337,260 for the Workers Compensation Insurance Fraud program and $133,912 for the Automobile Insurance Fraud program; and
- Authorize the District Attorney to execute the grant award agreement including any and all amendments or extensions.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The Yolo County District Attorney's office has been receiving these grants from the California Department of Insurance since Fiscal Year 1990-91. These funds are used to support the Workers Compensation and Automobile Insurance Fraud programs within the department.
In Auto Fraud, cases include but are not limited to the following: Theft of motor vehicle for financial gain, reporting a vehicle stolen for the purpose of filing a false insurance claim, switching of vehicle identification numbers to obtain title of stolen vehicle, arson, staged collisions, etc. The Automobile Insurance Fraud award funds a DA Investigator II.
In Workers Compensation, cases include but are not limited to the following: Premium Fraud, uninsured employers, claimant fraud, etc. The Workers Compensation Insurance Fraud award funds a DA Investigator II, a Legal Process Clerk, and a portion of a DDA III.

Collaborations (including Board advisory groups and external partner agencies)
The Workers Compensation and Automobile Insurance Fraud programs collaborate with all local law enforcement agencies as well as with State agencies such as the DMV, EDD, and the California Department of Insurance. The Workers Compensation investigator participates in a task force that includes Northern California Counties and investigates suspected provider fraud in Sutter, Yuba, and Colusa County.
