Reason for Recommended Action/Background
Due to requirements of the California Office of the State Fire Marshal, additional unanticipated services have been identified for the Yolo County SB863 Leinberger Replacement Facility Project. The project design team was required to revise construction documents to the new code cycle and specifications, which required re-submittals to the State Fire Marshal for approval. To continue construction activities, the design team created a separate document package consisting of demolition, grading, building foundations and slab. In addition to the permitting and plan approvals, the architect will provide extended project management; geotechnical updates; provide Fire and Life Safety consulting; Furniture, Finishes and Equipment support and administration; additional radio design; and extended construction administration support.
With the successful bids received on the project, the County was able to reallocate architectural fees during construction to State Reimbursement. This reallocation and anticipated increase in fees was accounted for in updated SB863 state budgeting. This additional compensation will balance with noted state reimbursement and will not require additional County funds.
