Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The Yolo County Board of Supervisors previously formed the Yolo County Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) in July 2017. The Tourism Business Improvement District is a 5-year benefit assessment district to fund marketing and public relations and community marketing programs for lodging businesses within unincorporated Yolo County and the cities of Davis, Winters and Woodland. The County and cities collect a 2% assessment and then forward the assessment revenues to Visit Yolo, the hotelier owners association, which provides the marketing and public relations and community marketing programs. The most recent TBID annual report is also attached (Att. A).
The current term of the TBID is 5 years and is set to expire in July 2022. Visit Yolo intends to seek renewal of the district, however, the proposed district has notable differences from the current district including a 10-year term, the ability to increase the assessment to 4%, and the non-participation of City of Woodland. Terry Selk, the Executive Director of Visit Yolo, will provide a presentation on the proposed renewal and timeline.
