Reason for Recommended Action/Background

The Board of Supervisors held the first reading and public hearing on an ordinance to amend the Board of Supervisors' Compensation at the March 22, 2022 meeting. A copy of that staff report is included in Attachment A.

The Board provided staff with direction to make two changes on the Ordinance which included a phase-in schedule for increases over the next three years, which was included in the updated ordinance (Attachment B) as follows:
  • 40% of a Superior Court Judge's salary effective June 11, 2022
  • 45% of a Superior Court Judge's salary effective July 1, 2023
  • 47.5% of a Superior Court Judge's salary effective July 1, 2024
In addition, the Board requested a formal waiver provision that would allow a member of the Board of Supervisors, if desired, to voluntarily forgo a portion or all of their salary.

The Board is asked to waive the second reading and to adopt the Ordinance to amend the Yolo County Board of Supervisors' Compensation. If adopted, the ordinance will become effective sixty (60) days after adoption on June 11th and will be required to be published in a newspaper of general circulation in Yolo County.
