Authorize amendment of the Fiscal Year 2022-23 Equipment List to purchase a nine (9) passenger van for HHSA for the provision of transporting students for participation in the Friday Night Live Mentoring Program.

Strategic Plan Goal(s)

Thriving Residents

Reason for Recommended Action/Background

The equipment being added to the Fiscal Year 2022-23 Equipment List will allow HHSA to transport middle school age students to multiple high schools around the county, so they can participate in the Friday Night Live Mentoring Program. The program owned, operated, and maintained a 9 passenger van for several years until it was decommissioned in 2019. With the closure of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic the use of a van hasn’t been needed but with schools opening up again, in-person interaction with youth will be a reality and transporting youth will be necessary again.

An amendment to the Equipment List to purchase this van was approved on consent for fiscal year 2021-22, Item No. 24 of the April 12, 2022 Board of Supervisor’s meeting. The price of the van increased before purchase could be made. Staff recommends reapproval of the amendment to the Equipment List so HHSA can purchase the van and provide the above services to Yolo County youth.
