Reason for Recommended Action/Background

In the Fiscal Year (FY) 22-23 Adopted Budget, the Board of Supervisors allocated $550,000 in contingency funds to the Department of Community Services for efforts to assemble construction ready documents, to pursue grant application opportunities, and implement construction of road projects.

For Quarter 1 of FY 22-23, County staff efforts of $108,298 were expended toward work on the following projects that are in process:
  • Ongoing efforts by our grant writing consultant to pursue funding opportunities for the County Road 32A Railroad Crossing Relocation Project
  • Ongoing design efforts by our road design consultant for the planned County Road 31 Bike Lane and Road Rehabilitation Project
  • Ongoing design and right-of-way acquisition efforts for the County Road 41 Washout Realignment Project
  • Began design efforts on the 2023 Pavement Preservation Project

The attached budget resolution is needed to complete the $108,298 reimbursement to the Road Fund using the contingency funds. Such appropriations are authorized with a four-fifths vote of the Board of Supervisors pursuant to Government Code section 29125.

With approval of this reimbursement, $441,702 will remain in this contingency funding for the remainder of FY 22-23.
