Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The Department of Community Services, Integrated Waste Management Division is requesting an amendment to the FY2022-23 Equipment List to purchase a replacement forklift. Replacing the forklift was not included in the FY2022-23 Adopted Budget. However, with projected savings in Services & Supplies, as of the third quarter, the Division would like to utilize the savings to replace the existing forklift which is no longer functioning. Starting from the beginning of the fiscal year, the Division has experienced costly repairs to keep the forklift in operations (roughly between $30,000-$45,000). Due to the forklift no longer functioning, the Division has had to rent a forklift and that option can be expensive over a long period of time. Purchasing a replacement forklift will save the Division in costly repairs and prevent using funds on an asset the Division does not own.
