Reason for Recommended Action/Background
In 2021, the Board of Supervisors designated the Resource Conservation District (RCD) as the Yolo County Fire Safe Council Coordinator via an MOU. The California Fire Safe Council is offering additional funding directly to the RCD to help sustain the Yolo County Fire Safety Council. This funding would allow RCD to continue running the Fire Safe Council Meetings, develop ongoing coordinator reports and project development, identify potential funding sources for projects, press releases, and community education events, and support priority projects addressing fire safety in our high-risk areas. Signing the letter of support to the California Fire Safe Council to allow Yolo County Resource Conservation District to apply on behalf of Yolo County for the California Fire Safety Council County Coordinators Grant Project will allow these projects to continue.
