Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The agenda item is intended to update Chapter 1 of Title 4 of the Yolo County Code concerning emergency services using the ordinance included in Attachment B. The Board approved the emergency services chapter of the Yolo County Code in March 2023, and the current version of the chapter is included as Attachment A with redlined edits to reflect the proposed changes. The chapter requires further revisions, most of a minor nature, to fully reflect the operations, structure, and goals of the County's emergency services. The ordinance updates the chapter to reflect the re-establishment of the Disaster Service Council and its membership. These changes will help ensure a whole community approach to emergency services and create a safer, more resilient Yolo County.
Collaborations (including Board advisory groups and external partner agencies)
County Counsel has approved the current form of the ordinance. The updated ordinance has been shared with various stakeholders, including cities, and Yocha DeHe. Stakeholders have had ample time to review and provide feedback to the County.
