Reason for Recommended Action/Background
Cal/OSHA’S non-emergency COVID-19 prevention regulations are operative until February 3, 2025. The proposed COVID-19 Prevention Procedure (CPP) (Attachment A) mirrors the COVID-19-specific regulations put in place by that Department. In addition, the proposed CPP embraces the California Department of Public Health’s revised ventilation and quarantine best practices in responding to COVID-19 in the workplace. The proposed CPP was drafted using Cal/OSHA guidance on these topics.
The goal of the CPP is to align the County COVID-19 response with revised Department of Public Health standards regarding COVID-19. The CPP achieves this goal by (1) addressing what measures the County will take to prevent COVID-19 transmission; (2) providing for the appropriate workplace response to confirmed COVID-19 cases and exposures; (3) providing for a mechanism to track workplace COVID-19 exposures; and (4) providing for a heightened response in the event of an outbreak or major outbreak, as defined by the policy. Also attached (Attachment B) is the guidance document entitled Guidance on How to Handle COVID-19 in the Workplace.
